Craftswomen from Chuvashia embroidered a map of the region in a million stitches

30 craftswomen embroidered a map of Chuvashia with a million stitches weighing 10 kilograms … This was reported by Vesti Chuvashia.

The canvas weighs about 10 kilograms. Each of the 21 fragments is unique in its ornament and reflects the image of the republic's municipalities.

It is noted that the Day of Chuvash Embroidery is celebrated for the second year. The date was not chosen by chance – the famous Chuvash embroiderer Natalia Egorova was born on November 26.

In the 1960s, a woman was engaged in the preservation of folk ornaments. On the basis of objects from museum funds, she created modern national clothes.

Earlier in October, the National Museum of the Republic of Bashkortostan hosted the opening of the exhibition “Carpets Fancy Ornament”. Visitors were presented with classic works of carpet art from the museum's collection. Within the framework of the project, it is planned to conduct a museum and educational interactive program for children and master classes on creating souvenirs and small rugs on boards.
