Russia warned of the risks of rising prices due to the crisis in Belarus

Kommersant: Russia announced problems with road transport from Europe due to the crisis in Belarus

The Foreign Investment Advisory Council ( FIAC) in a letter warned the First Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Andrei Belousov about the problems with road transport from Europe to Russia, which arose against the background of the migration crisis in Belarus. This is reported by Kommersant.

A traffic collapse at the Bobrovniki checkpoint, where a 25-kilometer truck traffic jam has formed, could lead Russian consumers to including the essentials. About 10 percent of Russian imports in volume terms cross the border.

Large retailers face delays, and suppliers warn of risks of price increases. “The persistence of the current situation can significantly affect the supply chain and the availability of goods for the population,” the FIAC said. At the same time, market participants and experts do not see a logistics solution, specifies Kommersant.

The government's press service told the newspaper that the letter has not yet been received. The Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of Industry and Trade did not provide comments.

Earlier, the chairman of the Council of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) for the development of the consumer market, Alexander Borisov, said that the rise in food prices in Russia in 2022 will be double-digit. According to him, this is due, among other things, to the global rise in prices, global inflation.
