Cynologist warned of the danger of poisoning a dog at home

Cynologist Golubev: Plants and household chemicals can poison a dog at home. He noted that these animals are curious and can find plants, food or household chemicals that are dangerous for them, RIA Novosti reports.

“Sometimes we just don’t think about the fact that the house can be dangerous for a dog foods or plants. To avoid trouble, carefully study all household chemicals, plants and other products that can harm the dog if it tries to chew or eat them, ”said the dog handler.

Golubev recalled that all potentially dangerous items should be removed to an inaccessible place where the pet cannot reach. From drugs, narcotic components, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, antidepressants, painkillers and analgesics can seriously harm or lead an animal.

Among indoor plants, irises, daffodils, peonies, lupins, calla lilies, standing in vases, are dangerous for a dog tulips, lilies, gypsophila, snowdrops, chrysanthemums, lilies of the valley, delphiniums, foxglove, as well as hyacinths and lilacs.

Sweets can also harm the animal, Golubev warned. So, you can not give the dog chocolate, candy with nuts, cocoa, as well as raisins, grapes, pomegranates. Onions and garlic can cause diarrhea and anemia.

If you suspect poisoning, the dog handler advised to immediately provide the dog with first aid, wash off the toxic substances from the coat and mucous membranes, give plenty of water and sorbent, and then contact the veterinarian.

Earlier, Vladimir Golubev warned the owners of the dogs about the dangers of walking in the autumn rain for pets. According to the dog handler, some pets can quickly freeze without special clothing.
