Deputy Head of the Gamaleya Center Logunov: COVID-19 will become manageable if there is a medicine In his opinion, it is possible to truly influence the infection only with the availability of drugs, RIA Novosti reports.
At a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Logunov called drugs for COVID-19 a necessary condition for defeating the infection. Only if they are available will the virus become controllable, he believes.
“It is possible to truly control the infection, that is, to declare that the infection is controllable, only when we have not only preventive drugs, but also then, when an infectious process occurs in a person … For this part of the population, we, of course, must have a drug, “said the deputy head of the Gamaleya center.
Logunov also spoke about the development of two drugs for coronavirus. The first of them is associated with monoclonal antibodies – ex-President of the United States Donald Trump was treated with a similar agent, the specialist noted. The second drug for COVID-19 is chemicals. The drugs can be approved in the next 4-5 months, Logunov noted.
Earlier, the Federation Council proposed to include in the list of vital drugs for COVID-19. Valentina Matvienko came up with such an initiative.
