Doctor Zhemchugov: you need to introduce compulsory COVID-19 vaccination for Russians over 60 years old 
Compulsory coronavirus vaccination for Russians over 60 years old must be introduced at the federal level, since they are at risk with a severe course of the disease. This opinion was expressed by TASS specialist in especially dangerous infections, immunologist, doctor of medical sciences Vladislav Zhemchugov.
He explained that by this age people already accumulate certain diseases, which together can contribute to the severe course of the disease. “Therefore, vaccination for them is the number one protective agent,” Zhemchugov believes.
The doctor noted that in older people, as a rule, all existing chronic diseases have a pronounced manifestation. In addition, Zhemchugov stressed, they, most often, have a doctor who treats this disease and can choose the optimal vaccination period in order to avoid interfering with the course of treatment or the period of exacerbation.
Previously, the Ministry of Health named the recommended for primary vaccination of the elderly drug. Deputy head of the department Oleg Gridnev believes that it is recommended to choose the domestic drug Sputnik V for primary vaccination against coronavirus. One-component vaccine “Sputnik Light” can also be used. However, for the first time, experts advise the elderly to give preference to a two-component drug.
