People's Artist Valery Garkalin died at the age of 67 , according to the Telegram channel “112”. Since the beginning of October, he was in the hospital, he was diagnosed with the coronavirus. There is no official confirmation of his death yet.
Earlier, the attending physician Garkalina reported that the artist began to have thrombosis of the upper extremities. In this regard, there was a risk of hand amputation. “Valery Borisovich's right hand is more or less intact, but the left one is more affected. If the thrombosis progresses and the treatment does not help, then Valery Borisovich's left arm will have to be amputated, ”said the source of the KP.RU edition. At the same time, the artist's agent denied this information in an interview with RIA Novosti.
On October 2, Garkalin was taken to hospital No. 40 in Kommunarka. There he was treated for coronavirus, then he was transferred to a ventilator. It was noted that the artist's illness developed against the background of chronic heart problems. On October 23, the artist was put into an artificial coma, and on November 8 it became known that he underwent emergency surgery on the pleural cavity of the chest.
