Deputy Director of the National Research Center of Epidemiology and F. Gamalei Denis Logunov spoke about the benefits of a nasal vaccine against coronavirus. According to him, the use of the drug will help form additional immune protection against COVID-19 in the upper respiratory tract, reports TASS.
The nasal vaccine has a minimum of side effects, said the deputy head of the Gamaleya Center. He added that its application is convenient and painless. In addition, he revealed the main function of such a drug.

The specialist added that they plan to use the nasal vaccine soon after the end of clinical trials.
At a meeting with Logunov, Putin said that he was ready to take part in trials of a nasal vaccine against COVID-19. The Russian president promised to sign the necessary consent for this, perhaps even today.
The Russian Ministry of Health in October allowed the Gamaleya Center to conduct the second phase of clinical trials of a coronavirus vaccine in the form of a nasal spray. The director of the institution, Alexander Gintsburg, said that this vaccine would not cancel the need for routine vaccinations. The nasal drug complements it, creating another barrier to the coronavirus.
