Poland is going to finish building a fence on the border with Belarus in the first half of 2022
on the border with Belarus. This was stated by the deputy head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the republic, Maciej Vonsik, TASS reports on Saturday, November 20.
The Polish official did not disclose additional details, citing the fact that the republic's authorities decided not to disclose specific data until the signing of the relevant contracts.
After the start of the migration crisis on the border with Belarus, Warsaw erected a barbed wire fence, which turned out to be a weak barrier for migrants. A new and more reliable structure will cost the republic 1.615 billion zlotys (about $ 414 million), which will come entirely from the country's budget. Construction should begin by early December.
Earlier it was reported that Polish and Belarusian border guards had a fight at the border of the two countries at the moment when migrants tried to cross it illegally. The video was posted on his Twitter account by Belarusian journalist Tadeusz Gichan. The footage shows how the Polish border guard calls their Belarusian colleagues “kurvami” (kurwa, translated from Polish as “whore”). “You yourself are a bitch! (…) Curva ******, *****! ” – they answer him in Russian.
On November 16, migrants gathered at the border tried to tear down the fences and threw stones and sticks at the Polish military, who responded with tear gas, water cannons and flash-noise grenades. As a result of the incident, migrants and journalists were injured.
