The accident was provoked by the BMW M4 Competition, which drove into the oncoming lane and crashed into Volvo and Mercedes cars. Initially, it was reported that four cars were involved in the accident, but this information was not confirmed. As a result of the collision, a man in a BMW was thrown onto the roadway. Two more were trapped in the car.
In the footage taken by CCTV cameras, it is noticeable that during the accident the asphalt was wet after the rain in the capital. A black BMW overtook several cars at high speed, then changed lanes from one lane to another and flew into the oncoming lane. A video demonstrating the consequences of the fatal accident was also published.

The culprit of the accident was 28-year-old blogger Said Gubdensky, who was driving a BMW M4 Competition. Almost 500 thousand people followed his blog on Instagram. In it, he called himself an entrepreneur and argued that he wants to become a leader in the Russian auto business.
According to the Moscow prosecutor's office, earlier Gubdensky was deprived of his rights for violations of traffic rules, and also drove without numbers. The blogger bought a BMW M4 Competition just a week ago. Four days before the accident, he managed to post a video about driving a new car.

Mercedes, which Gubdensky's BMW collided with, belonged to businessman Ratmir Timashev. In 2011, Forbes magazine included him in the top 30 leading IT businessmen in Russia; in 2016, Kommersant named Timashev in the list of 100 leading Russian Internet millionaires. In 2018, Fobes estimated his fortune at $ 950 million. It is not known whether he was driving or in the cabin.
