Political scientist Markov warned of a possible embargo on Russian oil and gas in Europe 
If Russia enters a full-scale armed conflict with Ukraine, not only a blockage of Nord Stream 2 is likely, but also a complete embargo on Russian oil and gas in Europe. This assessment of the possible consequences was given by political scientist Sergei Markov in a conversation with Lenta.ru. He warned that NATO countries could deliberately provoke this conflict.
Earlier, the observer Leonid Bershidsky suggested that in the event of a full-scale Russian offensive against Ukraine, the Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline would face a guaranteed shutdown.
Gloomy prospects
Markov noted that the physical destruction of the pipeline is unlikely, but a complete blockage in the event that Russia resorts to the use of armed forces on the territory of Ukraine is more than likely.
“Moreover, we can talk about blocking not only Nord Stream 2, but Nord Stream in general. It is even possible to impose an embargo on Russian oil and gas. This will be the hardest blow for Europe, but it is obvious that it is pursuing a literally hating policy in Ukraine and is ready to make such sacrifices, the political scientist believes. – You have to understand that the regime formed in Ukraine is monstrously anti-democratic, it stands knee-deep in the blood of its citizens. Tens of thousands of people were killed in Donbass. The same number – outside of it within the framework of mass terror. ”
Markov is convinced that both the United States and Europe are aware of these crimes, but are ready to support almost any act if it is directed against Russia. Based on this, in his opinion, it can be concluded that NATO countries can deliberately provoke the outbreak of hostilities with the participation of Russia and Ukraine.
“Only if Russia really introduces its troops, the regime will collapse very quickly – there is very little support there. According to current estimates, about 70 percent of the Ukrainian army is ready to go over to the side of Russia if it is confident in the safety of their families, that they will not suffer from Kiev's repressions, ”concluded Markov.
Earlier in Bundestag disclosed the purpose of postponing certification of the Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline. MP from the Alternative for Germany party Steffen Kotrets said that the EU Commission and the US are trying to disrupt the launch of the gas pipeline to make the project more expensive, harm Russia and gain benefits for American gas.
