The increase in the number of deaths of patients with coronavirus in Russia may continue for another week or two, after which the mortality rate will begin to decline. Such terms were named by Sergey Voznesensky, Candidate of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of Infectious Diseases of the RUDN University, he is quoted by TASS.

“The saddest thing in this situation, which we now see, 90% of new cases of the disease are regions, and there are equipment worse, the logistics of patients is much more problematic, “he said.

The medic added that population density and different equipment of medical institutions in Russian regions can affect mortality from COVID-19.

Earlier Doctor of Medical Sciences Vladislav Zhemchugov linked the high mortality rate of patients with COVID-19 with delayed treatment. He explained that, on average, a week passes before the start of treatment since the first symptoms appear in a person.

In Russia, the record for deaths of patients with COVID-19 is being updated for the third day in a row. Over the past day, 1254 people have died, in total, 261 589 patients with coronavirus have died since the beginning of the pandemic.
