“ Indeed, there are people who are ready to be vaccinated, but do not want to use Sputnik V, but are waiting for the admission of foreign vaccines to Russia. But it makes no sense for the state to subsidize foreign manufacturers that compete with domestic ones. Therefore, foreign vaccines in Russia can only be available in private medicine, “Isaev pointed out.
According to him, only a limited part of the population will be able to be vaccinated with expensive foreign vaccines, mainly residents of megacities, Moscow, St. Petersburg and other millionaires. The geneticist added that from the point of view of the population, this number will be scanty and will not play a global role.
Isaev concluded that Russia will take steps towards Western drugs when the World Health Organization and European countries recognize at least Sputnik V .
Earlier, the representative of the European Medicines Agency (EMA) Fergus Sweeney said that the regulator continues to evaluate the Russian vaccine against COVID-19 Sputnik V. He promised to inform when scientists move on to the next stage of checks.
