Expert Ekaterina Filatova: VR helps to immerse a person in a dangerous and difficult environment … Ekaterina Filatova, President of the Association of Augmented and Virtual Reality, said in an interview with Lenta.ru a way to safely visit where it is too difficult or expensive to be in real life.
The specialist noted that virtual reality technology is already being used in teaching. According to Filatova, VR helps to immerse a person in an environment or situation in which it is dangerous, difficult or expensive to be in real life. The expert explained that the virtual environment allows people to safely practice skills and replay possible scenarios.
“For example, when training personnel for work at a nuclear power plant, you can show even those compartments that are equipment or configuration, it is possible to quickly make adjustments to the training “, – said Filatova.
The advantages of using virtual reality during training were also pointed out by the head of the direction “Virtual and augmented reality, gamification technologies” of the IT cluster of the Skolkovo Foundation, Alexey Kalenchuk. The expert said that VR will help significantly save money: the technology will allow not to spend money on equipment layouts, special equipment cabins, necessary units, spaces and premises, as well as on extreme scenarios such as fires or leaks.
Previously, the founder and head of the American Facebook company Mark Zuckerberg said that by 2030 people will start using VR devices more often. In his opinion, virtual reality will change the attitude towards technology due to the effect of presence and will bring people closer together.
