Saakashvili agreed to go to a military hospital and end the hunger strike

Saakashvili's lawyer announced his consent to be transferred to a hospital in Gori military hospital in Gori. This was announced on Friday, November 19, by one of his lawyers, Nika Gvaramia, Interfax reports.

“He agrees to be transferred to the Gori hospital and will end the hunger strike as soon as he is admitted to the hospital. It is important for us to know for sure that everything is going well there, and that the further protocol of recovery after the hunger strike is prepared by specialists, and that there is a daily report, “Gvaramia told reporters.

According to the defender, Saakashvili will be transferred to the hospital already on Friday. The exact time of transportation is not named for security reasons.

Mikhail Saakashvili was detained in Georgia on October 1. He returned to the country after eight years in exile to take part in the protests. Earlier, he was sentenced in absentia to six years in prison for the murder of a banker and beating of a deputy.

Saakashvili went on a hunger strike in custody. First, the ex-president was kept in the prison in the city of Rustavi, then transferred to the prison hospital in Tbilisi. The defense insisted on the need to put him in a civilian clinic.

On November 18, Saakashvili fainted at a meeting with his lawyers. The next day, the Minister of Justice proposed to send the politician to the military hospital in Gori.
