Interior Minister Monastyrsky: Ukraine is planning to dig a ditch on the Russian and Belarusian border

borders with Russia and Belarus amid escalating tensions with refugees. This was announced by the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Denis Monastyrskiy during a speech at a meeting of the Verkhovna Rada, presenting a project to protect the state border.

According to him, multiple cases of illegal migrants entering Poland are forcing the country to concern itself with the issue of border security. He noted that, according to the idea of ​​the Ministry of Internal Affairs, a ditch could be dug in the most vulnerable section of the border of Ukraine with Russia and Belarus.

The cost of this initiative is estimated at 17 billion hryvnia (about 47 billion rubles), which the Minister of Internal Affairs called for laying to the state budget. “This is the guarantee that we will be safe,” emphasized Monastyrskiy.

The Minister also informed about the creation of an interdepartmental headquarters and a set of preventive measures to prevent the flow of migrants, as well as the planned conduct of exercises in which representatives of law enforcement agencies are involved.

Earlier, Monastyrsky indicated that the Verkhovna Rada should be ready to declare a state of emergency (PE) in the border regions of Ukraine due to the situation with migrants. He urged the deputies to prepare for declaring a state of emergency due to the migration crisis on the border with Belarus, but at the same time stressed that there is no need to introduce such measures yet.
