The Rada adopted in the second reading a bill on the use of weapons by Ukrainian border guards
prevention of conflicts and provocations. Depo.ua reports this on Thursday, November 18.
271 MPs voted for the draft law. It was submitted to parliament for consideration in March, and adopted in the first reading in September. Thus, the document is not related to the migration crisis on the border of Belarus and the European Union, the newspaper notes.
The bill gives border guards the right to conduct a superficial check of people, things and vehicles, to seize items that may be material evidence or cause harm life and health.
The use of weapons is permitted, in particular, to repel an attack on border guards, release hostages, detain a suspect in a grave or especially grave crime while trying to escape, and destroy drones.
Earlier it became known that the Ukrainian authorities plan to spend 800 thousand dollars on barbed wire for the engineering and technical development of the state border.
