The court in Kiev chose a measure of restraint in the form of a personal obligation to the deputy of the Rada Geo Leros
non-factional deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Geo Leros, who showed his middle finger to President Volodymyr Zelensky at a parliamentary meeting. This is reported by “Interfax-Ukraine”.
According to the newspaper, the obligations of the defendant are assigned for two months. The parliamentarian is obliged to surrender his passport and periodically show himself to the prosecutor. It is noted that the court denied the prosecution party for house arrest for Leros. He himself stated that he did not agree with the verdict and would appeal against it.
The lawyer of the parliamentarian stated that he considers the accusations against the client unfounded, since the gesture he showed had no verbal accompaniment.
< p> On November 11, the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) of Ukraine charged Leros with hooliganism. The department admitted that the purpose of the deputy's actions was “the desire to create his own media and political image, to increase his own media awareness, to attract the attention of the media, society and other politicians.” Leros himself believes that they want to punish him for his negative attitude towards Zelensky's policies.
A week before that, on November 4, during the appointment of Alexei Reznikov as Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Leros said from the rostrum of parliament that he was not afraid to speak the truth, and called Zelensky “the main traitor in the country.” After that, the speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Ruslan Stefanchuk turned off the microphone for Leros, and the deputy, showing Zelensky an obscene gesture, left the podium.
