“Ideally, Russia and the EU should launch a new 'Helsinki process' and cooperate within the framework of a collective security organization that will replace NATO, be it NATO + or a strengthened OSCE,” the political scientist suggested.
Previously, a Foreign Ministry official Russia's Maria Zakharova caught the North Atlantic Alliance of plans to expand its presence in Central Asia. According to her, NATO is putting pressure on the Balkan countries and pumping up arms to Ukraine and Georgia. At the same time, the diplomat noted that such a policy of the alliance has nothing to do with “real leadership” and compared NATO with a “colossus with feet of clay.” In 2021, the parties almost completely severed diplomatic cooperation. Then the secretary general of the alliance, Jens Stoltenberg, reduced the Russian representation in Brussels from 20 to 10 people, and in response the Russian Foreign Office suspended the activities of the NATO military mission in Moscow. Since November 1, the Russian mission to NATO has completely ceased to work.
