Earlier in a video message, which he published on his Youtube channel, Rashkin said that “he has already tried to find a farm where it would be possible to purchase moose in order to somehow compensate for the unwittingly caused damage to nature.”
On the night of October 28-29, Valery Rashkin's car was stopped in the Saratov region by a policeman with an employee of the local hunting committee. In the trunk, they found the corpse of an elk. The communist first said that he saw the carcass of an animal, after which he wanted to hand it over to law enforcement officers. Later, he himself confessed to killing the animal.
Rashkin, suspected of illegal hunting, faces a prison term of three to five years. The Prosecutor General of Russia Igor Krasnov asks to bring the deputy to administrative responsibility under the first part of Article 12.26 of the Administrative Code (“Failure by the driver of a vehicle to undergo a medical examination for intoxication”) and under part two of Article 258 of the Criminal Code of Russia (“Illegal hunting”). Also on November 17, the Prosecutor General of Russia submitted to the State Duma a proposal to deprive Rashkin of parliamentary immunity.
