Lebanon has limited air traffic with Belarus to reduce the number of migrants

Stanislav Zharyn: only three groups of people are required to allow flights from Beirut to Minsk

Lebanon has restricted air traffic with Belarus to reduce the number of migrants. This was announced by the press secretary of the minister coordinating the work of the Polish special services, Stanislav Zharyn on his Twitter page.

He published an image of the document of the Lebanese Directorate General of Civil Aviation, signed by its head Fadi al-Hassan.

The text says that all airlines that operate routes from Beirut to Minsk or directly in transit through other countries are required to allow only three groups of people on board. This group includes citizens of Belarus, or citizens of Lebanon who have Belarusian visas or a residence permit, or citizens of other countries who have a residence permit in Belarus.

β€œ[The decision was made to] reduce the number of potential illegal migrants on the border with The European Union along the route organized by the Belarusian special services, “Zharyn noted.

The text also says that the purpose of travel of many tourists heading to Belarus was the desire to enter the territory of the European Union (EU) illegally. β€œIt is difficult to find differences between travelers to Belarus, who consider the country as the final destination of their trip, and migrants to the European Union,” the document says.

The migration crisis on the border between Belarus and the European Union began at the end of May. Large groups of illegal migrants from Africa and the Middle East began to storm the borders of Lithuania, Poland and Latvia in the hope of obtaining asylum in the European Union. The crisis escalated on November 16, when some of the refugees tried to break into Poland. In response, the Poles used special means, as a result of the incident, soldiers, migrants and journalists were injured.
