The woman admitted that she decided to engage in theft in order to impress her partner. So she wanted to convince him of her value and “buy” his love. According to the British woman, the man did not respect her and humiliated her in every possible way. She tried to cope with the feeling of worthlessness and prove her worth to the man through expensive purchases and holidays in luxury hotels.
Long's fraud was exposed when the company decided to switch to a new account management system. The theft damaged the reputation of the organization with suppliers and forced the owners to spend a large sum of money on the investigation of the crime.
The court sentenced the British woman to three years and four months in prison. Upon hearing of the judge's decision, Long said that she realized that she would not be able to escape jail, and therefore planned ahead that she would use the time in custody to break bad habits, including alcohol addiction.
