The Institute of Molecular Biology of the Russian Academy of Sciences has developed a highly effective drug for COVID-19 
Scientists of the Engelhardt Institute of Molecular Biology (IMB) have developed from COVID-19. This was reported by RIA Novosti with reference to the director of the institute, Alexander Makarov.
According to the academician, the new drug was created “on the basis of monoclonal antibodies that neutralize coronavirus, including delta and gamma variants.” Monoclonal antibodies produced by immune cells can be obtained for almost any natural antigen and used to detect or purify it.
“A dose of antibodies has been selected that reduces the viral load by a hundred thousand times, which is not inferior to the results of the use of a well-known American drug “Regeneron”, “Makarov concluded at a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin on the development of genetic technologies.
The high efficiency of the new drug has already been proven by laboratory studies, including on animals.
Earlier Rospotrebnadzor said that only vaccination or a previous illness are indicators of the immune status from COVID-19. “Please note that the level of antibodies sufficient for protection is the subject of scientific discussions around the world. At the same time, not a single country issues documents on the immune status on the basis of measuring the level of antibodies, ”the department added.
