Doctor Pokrovsky: the extension of the rules for the prevention of COVID-19 in Russia may take a long time recurrence of disease outbreaks due to the emergence of new strains. He noted that at the moment the situation with the spread of coronavirus is difficult. Every now and then there are mutations that can overcome the vaccine barrier.
At the same time, the academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences suggested that the pandemic will gradually begin to fade. According to Pokrovsky, this can happen against the background of the widespread spread of vaccines against infection and a high level of vaccination.
The epidemiologist recalled that herd immunity is still being formed. A similar trend could lead to a decrease in mortality from COVID-19.

The document says that people who have been vaccinated or have had COVID-19 over the past six months will not be quarantined for two weeks in case of contact with a coronavirus infection.
