Doctor Timakov: Sputnik Light coronavirus vaccine is suitable for people under 60
Sputnik Light coronavirus vaccine is suitable for people under 60 years old, infectious disease doctor Evgeny Timakov told Izvestia.
This vaccination will be enough to train immunity and form immunological memory. The specialist recalled that older citizens develop T-cell immunity worse than the younger generation.
“People over 60 are advised to get two vaccinations, even after an illness,” the infectious disease specialist explained. >
At the beginning of November this year, The Lancet published an article about the high effectiveness of the Sputnik Light vaccine. The material indicated that the domestic vaccine causes a strong immune response both in seronegative (not recovered from COVID-19) and seropositive (recovered) groups.
Earlier, the head of the Gamaleya Center, Alexander Gunzburg, said that he people under 60 should be vaccinated with Sputnik Light, and those over 60 should be vaccinated with Sputnik V. He stressed that the Ministry of Health had made an absolutely correct decision in this regard.
