Institute of Molecular Biology RAS has created a drug that neutralizes coronavirus 
Russian scientists have developed a drug that can neutralize coronavirus, including its delta- variant, reports RIA Novosti the words of Alexander Makarov, director of the Engelhardt Institute of Molecular Biology (IMB) of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
It is known that IMB specialists, together with other research teams, have developed a drug based on monoclonal antibodies. The creation was helped by one of the first test systems for the analysis of antibodies against COVID-19, invented a year ago.
Makarov noted that the new drug neutralizes SARS-CoV-2, including strains delta and gamma. Its effectiveness has been proven in laboratory tests, including on animals. The dose of antibodies in it reduces the viral load by 100 thousand times, the academician added.
Earlier in November, it was reported that the first domestic injectable drug for the treatment of direct-acting coronavirus was registered in Russia. It is called Areplivir and will be admitted to hospitals by the end of 2021.
