Director Ridley Scott criticized comic books for weak scripts
British director and producer Ridley Scott called “superhero boring films.” This is reported by Deadline.
Scott said that his main complaint with movie comics is weak scripts. “I think I did three great films with a superhero script. One of them is “Alien” from Syugrni Weaver. More damn Gladiator and Harrison Ford [in Blade Runner], ”said the director.
He wondered why modern superhero blockbusters don't have an interesting plot. According to Scott, such projects save only special effects.
Earlier, British director Terry Gilliam confessed his hatred of the superhero films of the Marvel studio. “I don’t like that such pictures dominate the industry. They get money that should be available to make a variety of films, ”Gilliam said. At the same time, he emphasized that from a technical point of view, such projects are great.
In October 2019, director Francis Ford Coppola criticized the superhero blockbusters of the Marvel studio and refused to consider them cinema art. Martin Scorsese took the same position.
