RAS President Sergeev: introduction of QR codes in Russia at low rates of vaccination is justified
Introduction of QR codes in Russia at low rates vaccination against COVID-19 is a warranted measure. This is how the President of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS), Alexander Sergeev, assessed the need to introduce digital passes, he is quoted by TASS.
“We must not act by coercion, we must act by conviction. Here are QR codes – one of those moments, because please do not receive a QR code, but then you enter into those restrictions that exist, “Sergeev said.
He also called to look at the experience other countries and stressed that with low rates of vaccination against coronavirus, morbidity and mortality rates remain high.
On November 12, it became known that draft amendments were submitted to the State Duma – they relate to the use of QR codes confirming vaccination against coronavirus or the disease suffered over the past six months.
According to the documents, the government has proposed making the presentation of QR codes mandatory in public places, including in cafes, restaurants and shopping centers, as well as on airplanes and trains. The department also considers it necessary that from February 1, QR codes with a negative PCR test were issued only to Russians with a medical withdrawal from vaccination.
