“In our opinion, it is important for the European Union to remain united and exert its influence to Belarus through actions, ”Liimets said.

The telephone talks between Lukashenka and Merkel took place on November 15. According to Lukashenko, the first topic of the talks was the migration crisis and the situation on the border of Belarus. The Belarusian leader said that he “made a proposal to resolve the situation.” At the same time, he stated that there can be no claims to Minsk in the current situation.

The migration crisis on the border of Belarus with Poland and Lithuania escalated on November 16, when some of the refugees tried to break through to Poland. In response, the Poles used special means, as a result of the incident, soldiers, migrants and journalists were injured.
