“Strana.ua”: after the accident at the BelNPP, supplies of Belarusian energy to Ukraine stopped
emergency shutdown of the unit of the Belarusian NPP. This is reported by the Ukrainian edition “Strana.ua” with reference to its own sources.
Earlier it became known that on Wednesday, November 17, at 10:33 Moscow time, the first power unit of the BelNPP was disconnected from the network under the influence of automation … At present, experts are conducting diagnostics and analysis, the radiation background is normal.
Belenergo supplies energy to the neighboring country within the framework of a contract signed for November. At the same time, supplies within the framework of previously concluded contracts have been discontinued.
Ukraine needed energy imports due to the growing energy crisis. As of the end of last week, most of the state thermal power plants were not operating in the country, the capacity utilization dropped to ten percent due to a lack of fuel, primarily coal. At the same time, at least to some extent, only three of the 23 available units continue to function.
The Belarusian NPP was commissioned a year ago. Since the beginning of 2021, the first power unit has been repeatedly shut down due to the operation of the automation. After the shutdown on July 12, it did not work for almost three months – the unit was returned to operation on October 4. The reason for the current stop is still unknown.
