Kaimakov wrote that in their articles, the media from the Russian Federation “are trying to play the RLO card (Russian people are offended).” He did not name specific editions, however, in another publication he mentioned that Balashov's words about a negative attitude towards Russians in Kazakhstan were “immediately relayed by the Lenta.ru edition.” Vladimir Zhirinovsky, in which he proposed to include Central Asia into Russia as a province. “Zhirinovsky’s statements are beginning to seem not so far from the real plans of businessmen close to the Kremlin,” wrote the lawyer.
Kaimakov previously criticized Zhirinovsky's statements about Central Asia. In particular, due to Kaymakov's statement, the RF State Duma Commission on Ethics has already considered the words of the LDPR leader that the Central Asian states should be transformed into a federal district of Russia. Also, according to Kaimakov's statement, these words were checked by the RF IC, having found out that there are no grounds for initiating a criminal case against the politician.
Viktor Balashov, who worked in Kazakhstan as a top manager of the largest Russian clothing manufacturer Vostok-Service, turned out to be the victim of a business scandal between the management of the company in the person of Dmitry Golovnev and local partner Nursultan Shokanov. In September, the Kazakh authorities placed the Russian in a pre-trial detention center, and during the last court hearing, the prosecutor's office requested 11 years in prison for him.
According to Balashov's mother, the defense was able to fully prove the fabrication of the criminal case against her son, but the chances of winning are very small. At the same time, she pointed out that the investigation and Shokanov himself, who allegedly belongs to the clan of the first president of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev, is constantly putting pressure on Viktor.
