Law enforcement agencies identified the person from whom the victims purchased methanol. The entire chain of distributors of the surrogate was also identified. They turned out to be four residents of Kazan.
The detainees are being investigated.
Earlier on November 17, it was reported that the number of hospitalized students after a party in Kazan increased to 15. 13 people with methanol poisoning are in Kazan, one victim – in Bashkiria and another girl – in intensive care in Moscow.
The incident took place in the village of Salmachi. A group of 19 people aged 20 to 22 were vacationing in a cottage. The students took a bottle of antifreeze liquid from the trunk instead of a bottle of alcohol, then added flavorings to it and drank it by mistake. The analysis showed the presence of methanol in the liquid.
The Investigative Committee of Russia opened a criminal case under Article 238 (“Production, storage or transportation for the purpose of marketing or marketing of goods and products that do not meet the requirements of the safety of life or health of consumers”) of the Criminal Code RF.
