The ex-footballer added that the introduction of a salary ceiling will not help improve the situation. “It's useless, you can bypass different schemes,” Bulykin said.

After the failure of the Russian national team in the last match of the qualifying round, Croatian ex-footballer Yerko Leko called on the Russians to change the philosophy of the game. He advised the players to play not for money, but for their family and country.

In October, athlete Sergei Shubenkov expressed dissatisfaction with the players' salaries. The athlete said that he would like to receive as much money as the players of the national team. At the same time, Shubenkov noted that the income level of players playing in the second most important division of Russia – the Football National League (FNL), is comparable to the earnings of the best domestic athletes and amounts to 300-400 thousand rubles a month.
