The Central Bank will give Russians the opportunity to refuse remote banking services The Russians will be given the opportunity to voluntarily refuse remote banking services, Interfax writes, citing the words of the First Deputy Head of the Information Security Department of the Central Bank, Artem Sychev.
“The plans are very big, there are several innovations, legislative and regulatory. The first of them is literally on the way – they made a change to the 683rd regulation of the Bank of Russia, where they obliged financial institutions to provide their customers with a service that would allow them to refuse to provide services remotely. This is a very important story, since it helps to reduce risks for the client, “Sychev said.
If the client refuses to use the bank's remote services, he will have to visit the bank's office and talk to the employee to perform any actions with the accounts. “In any case, he [the client] will think about what he is doing and why,” – explained the representative of the Central Bank.
The Bank of Russia is preparing another measure to counter fraudsters. The Central Bank intends to establish operational interaction with law enforcement agencies to exchange information about criminals. “This […] contributes, first of all, to the disclosure of crimes and will help law enforcement to significantly shorten the investigation time,” said Sychev.
Earlier in November, Russians were named the main method of stealing money from bank clients – it turned out to be phishing. Artem Kazantsev, information security expert of the League of the Digital Economy, explained that during such an operation, the user receives SMS messages on behalf of the bank with a request to follow the link that leads to downloading malware or transferring data for withdrawing funds.
