ATOR: 75 percent of Russians are ready to abandon travel due to lack of vaccinations
possible only with the presentation of a QR code. This is evidenced by the results of a survey of the Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR), published on their website.
Only four percent of respondents are ready to get vaccinated for the sake of being able to travel freely. Another 12 percent already have a QR code that allows them to plan trips. The majority of Russians (75 percent) chose the option to give up their vacation altogether due to the lack of the required document. The remaining 10 percent preferred to observe the situation or wait for the cancellation of the new rules.
For example, during an online survey, tourists were asked what they would do if boarding air and rail flights, as well as checking into hotels becomes possible upon presentation of the QR code of the vaccinated or recovered, and the results of PCR tests will not be accepted.
However, experts note that in reality the number of Russians who abandon plans due to lack of vaccination may be less. Nevertheless, the decrease in the domestic tourist flow in February-June 2022 is projected at the level of 35 to 50 percent, and the drop in outbound tourism will be up to 30 percent in mass destinations.
Earlier in November, the director of the National Research Center for Epidemiology and microbiology named after Gamaleya Alexander Gintsburg named the main condition for defeating COVID-19 in Russia. According to him, to end the pandemic, 70-75 percent of Russians must be vaccinated. Gunzburg stressed that Sputnik V forms an immune defense against a large number of coronavirus mutations that are currently circulating.
On November 13, Dmitry Pegov, Deputy General Director of Russian Railways (RZD), said that the introduction QR codes on trains will have little impact on passenger traffic. Pegov expressed confidence that the passengers of the company will comply with the requirements of the law and already have the appropriate medical documentation with them, which must be presented when boarding the train.
