General Director of Kronstadt: Orion drones will be able to work with foreign satellites

devices. Sergey Bogatikov, General Director of Kronshtadt JSC, spoke about this during the Dubai Airshow 2021 international airshow, TASS reports.

Bogatikov stressed that export versions of Orion drones can work not only with Russian, but also with foreign satellites.

The representative of the company added that the area of ​​use of unmanned aerial vehicles will expand in the coming years thanks to the launch of additional spacecraft. Russian satellites in a highly elliptical orbit will provide coverage of the circumpolar regions and northern latitudes.

The General Director of Kronstadt stressed that the satellite communication system was tested with the help of several Roskosmos spacecraft. During the tests, the satellite allowed the drone to communicate with ground services.

In October, Bogatikov spoke about the open architecture of the Orion-E drone. According to him, this allows the vehicle to carry any set of weapons.

The modernized version of Orion-E was presented in September. The device received a satellite communication system that allows you to control the drone and exchange data.
