Earlier on Tuesday, November 16, the sports director of the RFU Andrei Leksakov spoke about the possible departure of Karpin from the Russian national team. He urged to support the specialist.
Karpin allowed leaving the team on November 15. The specialist stressed that it will take him a week to make a final decision. A day earlier, the Russian national team lost to Croatia (0: 1) and missed the chance to directly qualify for the 2022 World Cup. Karpin's team will compete in the play-offs for the right to play at the World Cup.
