Former prisoners spoke about the inhuman conditions in the detention center on Akrestsin Street

In Belarus, former prisoners complained of torture Akrestin Street in Minsk. They reported about what was happening there in an interview with the human rights center Viasna.

The two released prisoners said that the conflict with the CIP administration began after 10 women in a double cell went on a hunger strike on November 3 in response to the inhuman conditions of detention. In particular, they were not satisfied with the fact that they took away all their outerwear and warm clothes, and also refused to give them soap and toilet paper.

According to one of the former inmates, the next morning, the prison staff poured two buckets of bleach solution into the cell and threw the women's personal belongings on the floor. On the same day, in the exercise yard, the head of the CIP approached the prisoners and threatened that the temperature in the living quarters could drop to plus seven degrees, and the opportunity to wash would appear only after returning home.

On November 5, the prisoners stopped their hunger strike. however, the harsh treatment of them did not end thereafter. On November 6, a bleach solution was again poured into their cell, the door was closed tightly, and the homeless inmate was asked to “throw lice” on the clothes of other prisoners and report them. The women who were there were only given toilet paper and soap on November 9.

In June, 20-year-old Russian Yegor Dudnikov, detained in Minsk, spoke about torture, beatings and the threat of murder by Belarusian law enforcement officers in the pre-trial detention center. According to the young man, the security forces threatened to bury him alive and take the girl hostage.
