Microsoft has added older games to the Xbox catalog for backward compatibility
More than 70 older games will appear in the Xbox catalog. This is reported by The Verge with reference to Microsoft materials.
In honor of the 20th anniversary of the Xbox, the American company announced the appearance of 76 old games on new consoles. Support is implemented using backward compatibility technology. The list includes many titles that are considered cult among gamers: Max Payne, Skate 2, Dead or Alive Ultimate, Star Wars Jedi Knight II.
Every game added to the Xbox platform supports Auto technology HDR. Also, some of the titles received support for FPS Boost, thanks to which the refresh rate of the picture increased to 60 frames per second. “This latest and final listing of over 70 titles on the Backward Compatibility Program was only possible thanks to the enthusiasm and feedback from the community,” said Xbox executive Peggy Lo.
In 2019, Microsoft said it had no plans to add additional original games released to the Xbox or Xbox 360 to the catalog. At the time, the company said it would focus instead on developing new consoles.
Previously, Trusted Reviews suggested that a service with free games will appear on Sony consoles. The authors made a similar conclusion based on an interview with PlayStation chief Jim Rayan.
