Ukraine and the United States agreed to reduce escalation in Donbass

Ukrainian Defense Minister Reznikov met with US Charge d'Affaires Queen in the republic by Christina Queen. This was reported by the press service of the Ukrainian department, Interfax-Ukraine reports.

During the talks, the parties discussed the exacerbation of the situation in the “temporarily occupied territories” of Ukraine and on its border and agreed to closely coordinate measures to reduce the level escalation in Donbass.

Reznikov and Kvin also touched upon issues of bilateral defense cooperation, in particular – support for Kiev in the implementation of defense reform and the introduction of NATO standards and principles in the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU).

As a result meeting the head of the Ukrainian led he thanked the US government for its support in “countering Russian armed aggression” and developing the capabilities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Earlier, Pentagon spokesman John Kirby said that this week Alexei Reznikov will visit Washington colleague Lloyd Austin.

On November 4, Reznikov was appointed Minister of Defense of Ukraine. Prior to that, he served as Deputy Prime Minister and Head of the Ministry for the Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories of the Republic, and was also a member of the Kiev delegation to the Trilateral Contact Group on Donbass.
