Toilets-mountains were built in Japan

Designboom: Architect Kengo Kuma's Bureau Creates Mountain Public Toilets

public toilets, which are made in the form of a small ridge. The latrines complement the landscape in front of Mount Fujiyama, Designboom reports.

The architect's team made the latrines in the form of small structures with roofs reminiscent of umbrellas – wooden structures were fastened to steel rings. Inside, the cabins are painted white and equipped with everything you need. The structures are also covered with a membrane that protects them from adverse weather conditions.

During the day, the structures resemble snow-capped mountain peaks, and at night they are illuminated and turn into a kind of lighthouses. The toilets have been set up in the park overlooking Mount Fuji, a popular destination with locals and tourists alike.

In July 2021, Kengo Kuma built public toilets in Tokyo's Shibuya area. He organized the space in the form of a village and gave it the name “Walk in the Forest”. The architect worked for the Tokyo Toilet Project and in this way wanted to change the way people think about public restrooms.
