The Verkhovna Rada will abolish the expert department that criticizes the bills of the ruling party
Ukraine is tired of criticizing bills in the Verkhovna Rada and is reforming the lawmaking process. The main scientific and expert department of the Rada is going to be excluded from it, reports “Judicial-Legal Gazette.” Often criticism of experts from the State Economic University becomes the reason that the bills of Ukrainian people's representatives are rejected or sent for revision.
According to Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada and former chairman of the ruling Servant of the People party Oleksandr Kornienko, this situation impedes reforms, and the dispersed expert department does not enjoy the confidence of parliament members.
The current experts are planned to be replaced by a “research service” based on the Institute of Legislation of the Verkhovna Rada, which previously gave positive opinions on the “Servant of the People” draft laws.
In early November, Kornienko resigned as head of the Servant of the People party. He explained his resignation from the party leadership by the need to devote more time to reforming the work of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
