The shipwrecked Australians spent two days on a deserted island

Two men in Northern Australia spent two days on a deserted croc island in the middle of a teeming river after their boat sank and survived. This is reported by 7 News.

The men were sailing along the Daly River and ripped the boat against an obstacle in the river. As a result, their ship sank. The shipwrecked Australians did not manage to grab their cell phones and call rescuers, as the boat went under water within a few seconds.

The men had to swim against the current in the crocodile-infested water to get to the nearby island. Left without food and drinking water, the Australians spent two days on the island waiting for help.

In the end, the skipper of another boat sailing in the area noticed wreckage in the water. Soon the shipwrecked were found and evacuated from the island.

“The men are very fortunate to have survived, given the remoteness of the area, the presence of salted crocodiles and the extreme heat at this time of year. We are especially grateful to the skipper for rescuing these men, “said police spokesman Troy Harris.

The police noted that when going on a trip, the men followed all the necessary precautions: they took a rescue beacon with them and registered their trip. However, the police reminded of the need to keep a bag with rescue equipment close at hand, as in an unexpected situation, seconds are counted.

Both men were hospitalized for medical examination, but were soon discharged from the hospital.

Earlier it was reported that two fishermen in the Torres Strait between Australia and New Guinea were wrecked and spent the night in shark-infested water, after which they were rescued by the crew of an oil tanker. During the night they drifted about 10 kilometers.
