General Kostoyev spoke about the Soviet gang of law enforcement officers that robbed the collectors The Soviet army, who committed the largest robbery of cash collectors in the history of the USSR, was helped by a casual witness. The details of the case were told to Lente.ru by Lieutenant General of Justice and former investigator for especially important cases under the General Prosecutor of the RSFSR Issa Kostoev.
The case of the security officials who took 31 million rubles from the collectors and arranged a shootout with the police on the streets of Moscow , was disclosed 15 hours later.
According to Kostoev, Igor Kondratenko, an engineer at Soyuzsudoimport, noticed the suspicious men, one of whom was in police uniform, in the courtyard of Ryabinovaya Street. A man was walking the dog when an unknown person in civilian clothes and a “policeman” walked past him. The latter suddenly pointed a pistol towards the engineer and pulled the trigger, but no shot was fired – the cartridges in the clip ran out. Kondratenko was forced to lie on the ground.
“The man showed great courage – hiding behind the bushes, followed the strange couple and noticed the car they got into,” Kostoev said.
When the attackers left, the engineer stopped the vehicle of the mobile police group and told them the signs of the vehicle in which the armed men had gotten. Soon the intruders were detained.
On November 14, 1986, a gang of law enforcers robbed the collectors who were taking money from the Molodezhny department store in Moscow. Former and current law enforcement officers killed the collector, the driver and wounded the senior shift. The bandits, who ran out to help the police sergeant guarding the store, were shot at point-blank range, after which they fled.
One of the wounded criminals was killed by his accomplices, the leader of the group committed suicide during the arrest, the rest were caught and convicted.
