EU High Representative Borrell: The European Union will not be able to let migrants from Belarus in but they must not die. This was stated by the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell, TASS reports.
“The EU will not be able to let any of them in. But they shouldn't die in the forest. The Belarusian side should allow access to provide them with humanitarian aid and repatriate them, “Borrell said.
Earlier, Borrell said that the fifth package of European Union sanctions against Belarus would be adopted in the near future, this time due to migration crisis on the Polish-Belarusian border. As a result of amendments to the mechanism of anti-Belarusian restrictions, the European Union will be able to impose restrictions on individuals and legal entities contributing to the policy of the regime of President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko to provoke a migration crisis.
The migration crisis on the eastern border of the European Union began in May 2021. Large groups of migrants from Africa and the Middle East began to cross the border of Poland, Lithuania and Latvia from Belarus en masse. The authorities of the affected countries blamed Minsk and Moscow for the escalation of the migration crisis.
