Senator Kutepov: 85 percent of gas explosions are due to illegal redevelopment 
replanning and blocking of ventilation ducts. This opinion was expressed by the head of the Federation Council Committee on Economic Policy Andrei Kutepov in a letter addressed to the aide to the President of Russia Maxim Oreshkin, reports TASS.
As Kutepov noted, for the above reasons, about 85 percent of household gas explosions occur. He proposed to amend the legislation “related to the need to coordinate the redevelopment project in terms of the engineering and technical support system designed to perform gas supply functions with a specialized organization.”
According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, since September 2021 in Russia there were almost 20 gas explosions. On November 10, gas exploded in Simferopol, in a nine-story residential building on Lermontov Street.
Earlier, the editor-in-chief of the Energovopros.ru portal Mikhail Kozyrev said that the massive installation of electric stoves in Russian apartments would prevent gas explosions in residential buildings … In this case, the problem can be solved in 15 years, he said.
