According to local authorities, the village is located next to the main route of the autumn migration of polar bears. The administration clarified that the animals did not show aggression, but asked residents not to leave the settlements that are near this zone unnecessarily.

In addition, it is noted that brigades of “bear patrols” are now working in the area, whose task is to scare away predators from settlements.

At the end of October, a polar bear entered the Kharasavey shift camp in Yamal. The beast crawled into a small hole under the fence. And in early November, scientists from the Arctic Research Station captured the lunch of a family of polar bears. The carcass of a whale was carried to the shores of the Kara Sea near Kharasavey, and the predators ate it.
