According to the president of the bank, Adam Glapiński, the banknote and coin “Protection of the Polish Eastern Border” will be issued in an accelerated and extraordinary manner. The denomination of the banknotes has not yet been reported.
Earlier, the Polish border guards said they heard the sounds of shooting and reloading weapons coming from the Belarusian side. Press secretary of the Polish Border Service Anna Michalskaya noted that this is a constant phenomenon.
The migration crisis on the border of Belarus and the European Union began at the end of May. Large groups of illegal migrants from Africa and the Middle East began to storm the borders of Lithuania, Poland and Latvia in the hope of obtaining asylum in the European Union. It is assumed that the Belarusian authorities use their national tour operator Tsentrkurort to transport migrants to the EU borders and make money on it.
On November 8, several thousand people approached Poland from the Belarusian side. Migrants do not leave the border zone; some have tried to enter Poland by breaking the barbed wire fence.
