According to the minister, the construction will be carried out by several companies at four sites in three shifts. The construction will begin by December and should be completed in the first half of 2022.
Earlier, Kaminsky said that the length of the fence will be 180 kilometers and the height – 5.5 meters. According to him, the most modern solutions will be involved in the construction. In addition, the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs said that currently the border with Belarus is guarded by 13,000 Polish soldiers, 4,500 border guards and 2,000 police officers.
The migration crisis on the border of Belarus and the European Union began at the end of May. Large groups of illegal migrants from Africa and the Middle East began to storm the borders of Lithuania, Poland and Latvia in the hope of obtaining asylum in the European Union. It is assumed that the Belarusian authorities use their national tour operator Tsentrkurort to transport migrants to the EU borders and make money on it.
On November 8, several thousand people approached Poland from the Belarusian side. Migrants do not leave the border zone, some have tried to enter Poland by breaking the barbed wire fence.
