Morawiecki: Poland supported the convening of the NATO Council due to migrants on the border with Belarus NATO because of the situation with migrants on the border with Belarus. The Prime Minister of the Republic Mateusz Morawiecki said this in an interview with the Polish Press Agency in an interview with the Polish Press Agency.
“We are discussing with Latvia, and especially with Lithuania, whether to introduce the fourth article [of the NATO treaty]. It seems that this is becoming more and more necessary. Because it is not enough just to publicly express our concern – now concrete steps and the involvement of the entire alliance are needed, “Moravetsky said.
It is noted that Article 4 of the NATO treaty provides for the possibility of holding general consultations of the alliance whenever one of of the participating countries believes that its territorial integrity, political independence or the security of any of the allied states are under threat.
Earlier, NATO expressed solidarity with Poland and the Baltic states due to the migration crisis. The alliance said that the current crisis is an artificially created situation, part of a hybrid attack against Belarus's western neighbors for political purposes.
The West threatened to weaken control over the border.
