FT: The European Union may impose sanctions against Minsk airport due to the migration crisis Minsk and the hotel “Minsk” because of the migration crisis on the Polish-Belarusian border. This was reported by the Financial Times, citing diplomatic sources.
According to the newspaper, the sanctions list will be finalized within a few weeks, as “the European Union is coordinating its response with its allies.” At the same time, the authors of the material emphasize that the EU member states have not yet reached a consensus on sanctions against the National Airport of Minsk due to “existing legal difficulties.”
It is reported that sanctions against the Minsk Hotel may be accepted due to the fact that the hotel accommodates migrants who then try to get to Poland.
Earlier, NATO expressed solidarity with Poland and the Baltic states due to the migration crisis. The alliance said that the current crisis is an artificially created situation, part of a hybrid attack against Belarus's western neighbors for political purposes.
The West threatened to weaken control over the border.
